About Us

In 1832 the Edinburg Christian Church was organized by Reverend Abram Sanders. This early pioneer membership, which numbered 40 members, held most of their meetings in the home of John Parks.

Through the efforts of John D. Raney and David Stanley, a frame church was erected in the year 1850. This building was located on the hillside on what is now known as Route 551 on the north side of the Mahoning River.

In 1893 the old church building was dismantled and brought to its present site and rebuilt. It was brought piece by piece over the river by teams of horse and wagon. Most of the labor was performed by the men of the church. The church basement still consists of a dirt floor and the original sandstone walls.

Many ministers have come and gone through out the years, but David J. Snyder held the record for the longest tenure of 49 years. He was our minister from 1970 to 2019 when passed on to his heavenly home to be with wife Elissa.

In 2022 we held our 190 year anniversary and are looking forward to celebrating our 200 years of doing God’s work.
